Families with children at Sunday worship
At St Ternan’s we encourage a safe, nurturing space between all ages, thus people of all ages are welcome to join in all of our worship. Young worshippers will find a colouring-station at the front of the pews. There are also busy boxes (designed for ages 0-3), stored at the back, which can be taken to wherever you are seated. We encourage our littlest worshippers to sit near the front where they can see.
On the third and fifth Sundays of the month, we have services of All Age and Family Worship, when there is no Sunday School. Please see the ‘Regular Services’ page for more details.
On the first Sunday of each month we have a special gathering called ‘All Sorts Sunday’ where we offer “Diddy Disciples” for our pre-school children, ‘Godly Play’ for Primary aged children and the youth gather at Tease cafe for coffee and Bible study. On all other Sundays a Sunday School with Crèche is available during the 11am service. Children begin in Church for the start of the service and return for Communion. All adults leading and assisting with Sunday School are members of the PVG Scheme. Our Sunday School is an informal environment, where learning is facilitated based on the principles of storytelling, exploring the holy, fellowship and worship.
Going out for Sunday School is optional for our young worshippers: if your child prefers to stay in Church there is no minimum age requirement for doing so.
Additional Activities for Youth and Young Adults
Our young people (aged 10+) and young adults gather at the house of our Youth and Children’s Minister, Henna, most Sundays for dinner and informal fellowship between 5-7pm. Please contact Henna if you would like to come along, as this group does not meet every week.
When young people indicate that they are ready to go deeper in their life of faith, we offer classes of Preparation for Confirmation. One-to-one mentoring and Spiritual Direction are also available.
Additional Activities for families with pre-school children.
Every Friday morning, families with pre-schoolers gather between 10:00-12:00 for ‘Coffee, Chat and Play.’ Please contact Henna if you would like to come along as this group currently meets at her house.
